If you're thinking about ending your life, or you're worried you might hurt yourself, call or text 988 — the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline — now, any hour, or text HOME to 741741. If you or someone with you is in immediate danger, call 911. Nothing on this page comes before that, and we'd tell you the same thing on the phone.

Alongside your care

Low mood, no motivation, and a stuck feeling that won't lift.

Days that feel flat. Getting started on anything feels heavier than it should. You're functioning, and you're stuck — and you may already be seeing someone about it. LENS neurofeedback here runs alongside that care, never instead of it. This page is about who comes in, not about what would happen for you.

This page is for the long stretch. Low mood a doctor or a therapist may already know about, that has been part of life for a while:

  • Days that feel flat more often than not
  • Getting started on anything feels heavier than it should
  • Functioning on the outside, stuck on the inside
  • A therapist, doctor, or prescriber already involved — and staying involved

People come to us for low mood after a lot has already been tried, and usually with care already underway — a therapist, a doctor, a prescriber — that continues exactly as it is. LENS runs alongside antidepressants and alongside therapy; it isn't an alternative to either, and we'll say so on the phone. We don't treat depression, and we won't tell you what LENS would do for yours. That's what the free call is for.

The pattern

Why this looks like the rest of our neurofeedback work.

The people this page describes tend to arrive with the same cluster the rest of our neurofeedback work turns on: sleep that doesn't restore, attention that won't hold, a mood that has gone flat, and a tiredness that isn't about hours slept. We read that as a nervous system struggling to regulate. Whether it adds up to depression is a question for your doctor or your therapist, not for us.

LENS is a wellness service. It works alongside — never in place of — your doctor, therapist, or school supports. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988.

The care that continues

Who we see.

We don't treat depression, and LENS isn't an alternative to antidepressants or to therapy — it runs alongside the care you already have, and that care continues exactly as it is. What LENS would do for you is a question for the free call, not for this page.

Your first visit

What a first visit involves.

The first visit is The Harmonized Brain Map: about 60 minutes, a 21-point recording of brain activity, and a written plan you keep. It's a recording, not a test — and not an assessment of your mood.

Fair questions

Asked by almost everyone who calls about low mood.

Do I stop my antidepressants or my therapy?
No — and we'd say so on the phone. Both continue exactly as they are. LENS is a wellness service that runs alongside them, not an alternative to either; we're glad to coordinate with providers you already trust, and we never advise on medication.
Can I come in if I haven't seen anyone about this yet?
Yes — no diagnosis and no referral is needed to call. If what you describe on the call sounds like something a doctor or a therapist should hear first, we'll tell you so plainly, and we'll still be here alongside that care afterward.
What would LENS do for my low mood?
We won't tell you — not to be cagey, but because we don't predict outcomes and we don't treat depression. That's exactly what the free call is for: a practitioner talks it through with you honestly. If we don’t think LENS is right for you, we’ll tell you on the phone — before you ever book or pay for anything.
